Abstract

919,612. Selective printing. OKI ELECTRIC INDUSTRY CO. Ltd. June 19, 1959 [June 20, 1958 (2)], No. 21213/59. Class 100 (4). A high-speed output printer comprises an endless type-carrying belt 1 which moves past two or more printing stations to permit a separate printing to be made of selected matter by the same line of type. The endless belt 1 is driven by a motor 4 and synchronizing pulses are generated by holed discs 9 1 , 9 2 , lights 10 1 , 10 2 , and photo-electric cells 11 1 , 11 2 . The input signals enter on line 13 and are controlled by discriminating circuits 12 1 , 12 2 , so that the hammers 6 1 , 6 2 , are operated at the right moment. The synchronizing pulses may be generated by holes in the belt 1 which may be arranged at different levels for different groups of characters, e.g. numerals, upper case letters and lower case letters. This will enable, say, all characters to be printed at one printing station and, say, the numerals only at another station. In a modification, Fig. 3, the belt 1 is arranged around pulleys 3 to provide for three printing stations. Specification 918,769 is referred to.
