Abstract
919,575. Multi-gap cold cathode tubes. ERICSSON TELEPHONES Ltd. Oct. 3, 1961 [Nov. 25, 1960], No. 40671/60. Class 39 (1). [Also in Group XIX] A multi-electrode glow discharge tube of the type described in Specification 898,177 [Group XL (a)], comprises additionally a second auxiliary electrode D1 disposed further from the common electrode A1 than is the main electrode KO, with the main electrode D1 and the first auxiliary electrode X1 between the second auxiliary electrode D1 and the common electrode A1 In operation, the auxiliary electrode D1 is held at a negative potential with respect to the common electrodes, K, and the discharge will step from K9 to D1 causing electrode X1 to deliver a negative-going pulse equal to the difference between the potentials applied to common electrodes K and D1, which pulse can be used to drive a further tube T2 directly through a passive circuit consisting of elements C3, R4, R5 and integrating network C4, R6, and is typically of the order of 70 volts. In an embodiment, electrode KO may be omitted.
