Abstract

Hydrocarbon oils are stabilized by incorporation of an inhibitor having the formula <FORM:0919062/III/1> where R and R1 are aliphatic hydrocarbon groups having a combined total of at least 7 carbon atoms and R11 is an alkylene group having a straight chain portion of 2 to 4 carbon atoms linking the N and O atoms. The amount of inhibitor may be from 0,001 to 1% by weight of the oil. The inhibitor is effective in gas oil, jet fuel, fuel oil and lubricating oil. The compositions may also contain amine-type metal deactivators of which many examples are given.
