Abstract

918,923. Tube cutters. WICKSTEED & CO. Ltd., CHARLES. Dec. 9, 1960 [Sept. 15, 1959], No. 31415/59. Class 83 (4). An internal tube cutter comprises a cylindrical body portion 1, adapted to be rotated by a driving motor or by hand, and having a flat slot 2 extending radially with a tapered bottom 4 at the inner end. A housing 11 with a thrust bearing 12 is spaced from the end of the tube 3 to be cut, by an interchangeable conical member 15. A link 9 is anchored to a part 10 of the thrust bearing by a transverse pin 13, the body 1 being slotted at 14 to clear the pin. The inner end of link 9 is connected to a flat cutter member 5, 6, which has a slot 7 engaged by a further transverse pin 8 to return the cutter. When the body member is rotated and pressed inwardly against a spring 19 the cutter is moved radially to cut the tube.
