Abstract

918,684. Rectifying. MARCONI INSTRUMENTS Ltd. July 13, 1961 [Nov. 9, 1960], No. 38536/50. Class 38 (2). To stabilize the output voltage of a semiconductor rectifier 6 having a storage capacitor 9 across its output terminals 7, 8, the rectifier has a reverse polarity breakdown voltage of such value that in the reverse half-cycle the inverse voltage across it will cause it to break down and partly discharge the condenser 9. A resistor 5 limits the reverse current through diode 6. In one modification the single rectifier is in parallel with the output terminals, Fig. 2 (not shown), and in another an additional rectifier 16 which has the greater reverse breakdown voltage is connected in parallel with the output terminals to form a voltage doubling circuit, Fig. 3 (not shown).
