Abstract

918,679. Transistor pulse circuits. MINNEAPOLIS-HONEYWELL REGULATOR CO, March 19, 1959 [March 25, 1958], No. 9605/59. Class 40 (6). [Also in Group XXXV] A circuit for delivering a pulse width modulated output proportional to an input signal comprises a cyclically varying D.C. source 33, 43, 45 charging a capacitor 25 connected in parallel with the collector 13 and emitter 12 electrodes of a transistor 10 and in series with the base 17 and emitter electrodes 16 of a transistor 11 which maintains the charging current constant. The input signal connected to transistor 10 varies its conductivity, hence varies the voltage across the capacitor 25, thus determining the time in each half-cycle during which a series resistor 46 carries current. The potential across resistor 46 fires a transistor 54 which is connected in a bi-stable circuit with another transistor 67, which switches a power transistor 86 connected in series with a load R L supplied from D.C. terminals 51, 52. The sensitivity of the circuit may be increased by removing the resistor 46 and shunting a resistor 61. A list of typical component values is given in the Specification.
