Abstract

918,083. Valves. REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT. June 12, 1959 [July 18, 1958], No. 20206/59. Class 135. [Also in Group XXXII] A single deformable disc-shaped valve member 53, Fig. 2, attached to the piston 41 of an hydraulic shock-absorber, has small orifices 51 permitting restricted flow in both directions and is deformable to open additional passages for increasing the flow in both directions at higher operating pressures. The valve 53 is retained by a rigid disc 6 of smaller diameter which permits the peripheral portion of the valve to deflect away from the piston 41 during the compression stroke. On rebound, Fig. 4, the valve 53 deflects away from the disc 6 to permit additional flow through larger orifices 52.
