Abstract
917,583. Circuits employing bi-stable magnetic elements. LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd., JOSEPH. Oct. 11, 1960 [Oct. 12, 1959], No. 34461/59. Class 40 (9). A self-hold unit includes two ferrite or other square-loop cores F1,F2 each having a control winding L3, L6, an input winding L2, L7, and an output winding L4, L8, the control windings L3, L6 being supplied with Y and X clock pulses respectively and any input signals supplied to the input windings L2, L7 being out of phase with the Y and X pulses respectively so that such input signals produce an output from the cores respectively, and a diode pump circuit operable by the output from the core F1 and arranged after receiving a predetermined plurality (e.g. ten) of output signals therefrom to provide input signals to the input winding L7 on core F2 each time core F1 produces an output, the output core L8 from core F2 providing an input to a winding L1 on the first core to produce an output. Continuous pulsing of the unit is obtained after capacitor C2 is sufficiently charged. The diode pump circuit consists of two capacitors C1, C2 and two diodes D1, D2, capacitor C1 being alternately charged through diode D2 and discharged through diode D1 into larger capacitor C2. When capacitor C2 is sufficiently charged it acts as high-tension source for a transistor T7. This transistor is rendered conductive by the output from winding L5 and, after capacitor C2 is sufficiently charged, each succeeding pulse in winding L1 and/or winding L2 produces a pulse through the transistor T7 and winding L7, the pulses applied to winding L7 being out of phase with the X clock pulses. The transistors all act as switches. They may be replaced by coldcathode tubes. Core F2 has an additional output winding L9. Pulsing continues until the source of power or source of clock pulses is cut off.
