Abstract

917,313. Drainage systems. LILJENDAHL, S. A. J. May 25, 1959 [May 28, 1958], No. 17772/59. Class 33. [Also in Group XXVIII] Disposal of building sewage water comparatively free of solid refuse is affected through a normally closed cut-off valve 31, Fig. 2, in the outlet 41 of the sewage source e.g., a wash basin 55, bath 54 or sink 56 and which valve is temporarily automatically opened when the plug is withdrawn to allow the waste water to enter a flexible conduit 30 which extends substantially horizontally into an hermetically sealed vacuum chamber 10, Fig. 1, into which the water is sucked and from which it falls by gravity down a vertical pipe 11 into a sewer 57; the bottom of the pipe 11 being water sealed at 12, Fig. 1, to prevent entry of air into the vacuum chamber 10. The vessel 10 may be evacuated by being connected to a motor driven pump, as shown the vessel 10 is connected by a valved duct 33 to a pipe 18 connected at one end to a vacuum container 52 and at its other end to the upper end of the downpipe 11 and below a float 13 which when raised by an inflow of waste water through conduit 30 allows a plug of water to fall down the pipe 11 resulting in air being withdrawn from said container 52. Sewage water containing solid matter from water closets 61 descends a downpipe 62 which discharges into a receptacle 63 connected by a duct 64 to the vacuum container 52.
