Abstract
916,826. Feeding webs. UNITED STATES BEDDING CO. Feb. 27, 1961, No. 7122/61. Class 100 (1). A web is fed predetermined distances by opposing belts 66, 94 passing around pulleys 62, 92 respectively which are driven by a motor 26 according to the arrangement of stops 123 on rods 105, such that the web is fed by amounts determined by the spacing of the stops. The stops are engaged in turn by a switch 122 which causes de-energization of a motor 26 driving the belts. The switch 122 is carried by a block 117 on a threaded shaft 112 driven by the motor 26 through a reduction gear 35. The switch 122 forms part of a control circuit (Fig. 6, not shown). A series of rods 105, Fig. 2, are provided carrying stops at varying intervals, the rods being transversely adjustable, by a handle 106, to co-operate with the switch 122. A second switch 130 engages an adjustable stop 131 which, through the control circuit, reverses the direction of rotation of the motor 26 to return the block to starting position. The motor drives the pulleys 62, 92 through a oneway clutch 59, a shaft 30 in the drive being braked by an electrical brake 31 to stop rotation of the motor shaft upon de-energization of the motor. The lower belts 94 may be lowered by a platform 83 actuated by a foot lever 69, the platform being held in raised position by springs 87.
