916,735. Pulleys. MANSON, A. June 15, 1961 [July 9, 1960], No. 24042/60. Class 80 (1). [Also in Group XXIII] Pulleys of resilient material for transmission belts have a series of holes formed near the peripheral surface. In the embodiment of Fig. 1 the wheel is a one-piece rubber moulding having a series of equally-spaced holes 5 and a central hole for mounting on a hub 4. A wheel of composite construction, Fig. 3, comprises a number of perforated rubber discs 11 mounted between clamping end-plates 7, 7a of metal or other rigid material, having ribs 9 to engage grooves 10 on the discs to limit the expanding tendency of the pulley; similarly ribbed spacers 17 may be inserted between the discs, and pins 8 may extend between the end-plates. Alternatively the plates and spacers may be grooved and discs ribbed. Peripheral gaps 21 may be left between adjacent faces of the disc leading into the transverse holes 15, to promote heat dissipation.
