916,589. Vehicle sliding roofs. KASPER, P., LOTTE, A., and LEPPINK, J. G. Nov. 8, 1960 [Nov. 10, 1959], No. 38361/60. Class 108(1). A sliding roof panel comprises, an upper panel supporting frame 13, Fig. 2, having a forward trough 18 mounting a crank disc 19 operating locking rods 20, and a lower frame 28 which is movable up and down with respect to the frame 13 and its panel 14 and supports a stretched canopy 33, which frame 28 is sprung away from the frame 13 by a plate spring (not shown) and is suspended by rods 27 from rollers 26 connected by arms 24, 25, rods 22, 23, cranks 35, 37, and a sliding rod 34 to the frame 13. The frame 28 in the roof closed position is pressed and sealed against flanges 7, 8 of gutters 10, and also engages a sealing strip 9 in the double skinned roof of Fig. 1. The frame 13 is provided with spring skids 17 engaging fixed guides 12, and in the closed position seals against the edges of a hole 2 in the fixed roof and is locked by members (not shown) which are guided on the flanges 7 and are operated by the disc 19 and rods 20 to grip the flanges. The frame 13 is held in the raised and closed position by cranks 38 engaging cams 39, which cranks are also operated by the disc 19 through the slidable rod 34, the crank 35, and the rod 23. In operation, by rotating the disc 19 the frame 13 may be unlocked and its rear end lowered by rotation of the cranks 38, at the same time the rollers 26 lift the frame 28 so that the sliding roof may be slid beneath the fixed roof.
