The fluid-pressure controlled sack-filling automatic feed weighing apparatus of the parent Specification, is provided with a weighing receptacle having a closable outlet, which receptacle may be used in substitution for the sack holder. The receptacle comprises a hollow rigid casing 63a having a tapered lower portion 63a to which the outlet-a flexible sleeve 63dis attached, the outlet being closable by members 64a operated by mechanism 65, which is the same as the clamp-operating mechanism of the sack holder described in the parent Specification. Pressure from the control system may be applied to the mechanism 65 as shown in Fig. 5, by connecting it via a pipe 83 to a cylinder 68. The latter contains a piston 71 which is moved to the left by pressure applied to inlet 81 when a manually operable valve 72 is actuated at the commencement of a weighing, the feed to the weighing receptacle being initiated by the opening of cock 103 by lever 90 at the end of the leftward stroke of piston. During this movement a pressure inlet at 85 causes pipe 83 to be pressurized to close the outlet members 64a and, on actuation of cock 103, stop member 69 is actuated to descend to the position shown and prevent return movement of piston 71 during the weighing so that the receptacle outlet remains closed. When the weighing is completed, the catch 67 is automatically released, piston 71 moves to the right under pressure from inlet 85, the pressure at inlet 81 having been stopped by the previous release of valve 72. At the end of this rightward movement the piston abuts stop 70 and pressure in line 82 operates a beam locking member 40 (c.f. Fig. 9 of parent Specification). The operation of the latter pressurizes line 66 so that a cover plate 75a, which has hitherto covered a valve 73, is moved by piston 75 to the right. Valve 73 may now be manually operated to release catch 70 when the piston will complete its rightward movement, in so doing de-energizing line 83 and releasing the receptacle outlet control mechanism 65 to discharge the weighed load. The discharge may be made automatic by dispensing with the cover plate 75a and instead causing pressure in line 66 to operate mechanism 65 directly.
