Abstract

A therapeutic composition for the relief of gastro intestinal distress comprises a particulate, ganular, disintegratable gastric antacid, in which the particles are at least partially coated with a non-toxic organopolysiloxane, said organopolysiloxane being present in an amount between 1 and 100%, and preferably 1 to 10% of the weight of the dry granular material. The compositions may be in the form of tablets or dispersions in a potable liquid. Specified antacids are aluminium hydroxide, magnesium carbonate, magnesium trisilicate, sodium bicarbonate, calcium caseinate, magnesium oxide, calcium carbonate, aluminium aminoacetate, calcium phosphate, aluminium trisilicate, magnesium phosphate, bismuth subcarbonate, aluminium phosphate, dihydroxy aluminium aminoacetate and potassium phosphate; resins having antacid properties, e.g. polyamine methylene resin and sodium carboxymethylcellulose. Optional ingredients are tincture of belladonna and phthalysulphacetamide. Convential excipients are used. p
