Abstract

914,297. Cast metal wheels. GOODYEAR TIRE & RUBBER CO. July 5, 1961 [Sept. 19, 1960], No. 24245/61. Class 144 (2). A cast metal aeroplane wheel rim comprises an endless tapered bead seat 3 which connects into a radial bead-retaining flange 6 by an arcuate fillet 11 having the form of a quadrant of an ellipse which merges tangentially with the seat 3 and flange 6, the fillet portion merging with the bead seat 3 having a radius of curvature 13 which is from four to eight times that 14 where the fillet merges with the flange 6. Radius 15 is stated to be that of the conventional circular fillet 15A.
