[Also in Group XXVIII] A temperature-control system for a chamber 10 comprises a reservoir 6 of low temperature liquefied gas, a pipe 8 leading from below the surface of the liquefied gas to the chamber, a source 1 of gas under pressure connected to the reservoir by a pipe 5 ending above the liquid and a continuously variable thermostat 11 responsive to the temperature of the chamber controlling the pressure of the gas applied to the reservoir. As shown, the thermostat comprises a jacket 12 containing an expansion rod 13 controlling a valve 14. If, e.g. the temperature in the chamber rises, the valve 14 tends to close, thus restricting the amount of gas which can be vented at 16 and increasing the pressure of the gas in pipe 5. This causes more liquefled gas to be forced up the pipe 8 into serpentine heat-exchanger 9 where it evaporates to cool the chamber. In a modification, the thermostat-controlled valve is located in the pipe 5.
