A spring interior constructed according to the parent Specification is enclosed in a waterproofed external covering, the seams and stitching of which are waterproofed by a sealing compound. The edges of the top covering sheet may have marginal strips, preferably of nylon or waterproofed material, which are wrapped around the border wire frame to enclose the edges of the top padding. Ventilators containing a double layer of gauze, preferably rendered water repellant, may be provided.
