Abstract
912,322. A.C. generators; arc-welding systems. SOUDRE ELECTRIQUE AUTOGENE PROCEDES ARCOS. June 9, 1959 [June 10, 1958], No. 19713/59. Classes 35 and 38 (4). An A.C. arc-welding set comprises an inductor alternator 2 having a stator formed by a ferromagnetic metal cylinder 203 in which are fitted two identical annular sets of stacked plates 201, 202, forming teeth each surrounded by an induced coil 204 connected in a welding circuit and disposed between the sets, an exciter coil 205 fed via a rectifier R1, Fig. 3, from an A.C. source, a rotor disposed within these components and on which are mounted, facing the stator plates, two mutually identical annular sets of rotor teeth similarly formed by stacked plates 206 and a controlling circuit which includes a saturable reactor Z 1 having a control coil 293 which causes the rectified current feeding the exciter coil 205 to decrease automatically when the welding current increases. A transformer TA feeding the reactor and rectifier has a second secondary winding 82 which supplies via a second rectifier R 2 a reactor bias coil which determines the loadless tension 283. The welding circuit, comprising electrode-holder clip terminal P, coils 204, and earth M, includes a second transformer T which supplies via a third rectifier R 3 and a potentiometer 193 the reactor control coil 293 with a current which sets up in the reactor a magnetic field that is opposed to that produced by the bias coil 283. The potentiometer regulates the welding current, a reactor Z 2 stabilizes the current in coil 293, and the exciting coils 204 alternatively may be mutually in parallel. A 3-Ph. squirrel-cage asynchronous motor 1 drives the alternator.
