Abstract

912,320. Sliding clasp fasteners. DOELTER, G. Aug. 20, 1959 [Aug. 21, 1958], No. 26958/58. Class 44. [Also in Group XXII] A continuous fastener for joining the edges of two parts of flexible material comprises a row of fastener elements along each elge, each fastener element being of U-shape with the limbs of the U facing the opposite row of elements and gripping an edge of one part. The enlarged heads 16 of the elements interengage, with parts 24 of the heads overlying the lower limbs 18 of opposite elements so that pivotal motion about an axis along the rows of elements is prevented as well as separation of the elements. The elements are formed from a strip of material, and after separation from the strip are formed with a neck 17, then pressed by a former into a mould to give a U-shape, and finally closed on to a tape 10.
