Abstract

883,134. Sliding clasp fasteners. RUHRMANN, J. Dec. 16, 1959 [Jan. 15, 1959], No. 1506/59. Class 44. A sliding clasp fastener has two stringers each of which comprises a unitary strip 10 of fastener interlocking members 11, loosely attached to a carrier tape 15 by stitches 20, the strip being thus displaceable relative to the tape and the stitches; each member 11 has a head portion 12 and a pair of legs 13, the latter being connected to adjacent elements by portions 14 against which the stitches 20 abut in normal operation of the fastener, spaces 21 being formed between the inner walls 17 of the head portions 12 and the tape 15 for receiving coupling projections on the members 11 of the other stringer. The strip 10 is preferably made of thermoplastic or thermosetting material and the inner walls 17 of the head portions 12 are preferably grooved at 22 to increase the spaces 21. More than one line of stitches 20 may be provided. The fastener may be provided on one or each side of the strip 10 with a covering strip. The portions 14 may be deformed to facilitate guiding of the slider therealong. Specification 821,341 is referred to.
