Abstract
912,305. Stuffing-box substitutes. MORGAN CRUCIBLE CO. Ltd. May 2, 1961 [April 8, 1960], No. 12678/60. Class 122 (5). A sealing device for use between relatively rotatable coaxial parts comprises a carbon or other sealing-ring 4 secured to one end of a rubber &c. bellows 1 having at its other end two axially spaced inwardly directed radial flanges 5 housing between them a brass or other rigid end-plate 7 supporting one end of a compression spring 9. The ring 4 is moulded or bonded to flanges 2, 3 on the bellows 1 and, in use, is urged into facial sealing contact with one of the relatively rotatable parts by the spring 9, the bellows having a cylindrical portion 12 tightly fitting a bore in the other part.
