Abstract

911,840. Expanding-wheel gear. REIMERS, W. June 15, 1961 [July 22, 1960], No. 21601/61. Class 80 (2). Expanding-wheel gearing having axially movable frusto-conical pulley flanges 9 connected by a link chain &c. 14 and mounted upon shafts 11 has its ratio changed by turning spindles 2 connected as by a chain-and-sprockets 12 so that supports 5 screwed on to oppositelythreaded sections of the spindles will move therealong to turn four symmetrically arranged levers 1 about pivots 6 at their inner ends, the levers acting through ball thrust bearings 8 upon the pulley flanges. A hand wheel 13 fast upon one of the spindles 2 is turned for ratio selection. The pivots 6 are carried upon supports 3 screwed upon oppositely threaded sections of a spindle 4 turned by means of a crown wheel 15 to tension the chain &c. 14.
