Abstract

911,195. Cable construction. GENERAL CABLE CORPORATION. Jan. 20, 1961 [Feb. 4, 1960], No. 2466/61. Class 36. A cable whose core 11 is surrounded by a longitudinally folded metal tape 10 has the overlap of the tape covered by a longitudinally applied bridging tape 15 immediately before the sheath 13 is extruded over the cable, thus preventing the outermost edge of the metal tape from lifting and damaging the sheath. Typically the metal tape may be of aluminium, the bridging tape made from polyester film, and the sheathing extruded from polythene.
