Abstract

910,891. Magnetic amplifiers. LANDIS & GYR A.G. Sept. 7, 1959 [Sept. 8, 1958], No. 30451/59. Class 40 (9). Two auto-self-excited full-wave rectifying transductors 8, 9, Fig. 1, operating in push-pull are supplied from a common centre-tapped transformer 4 and control a centre-zero relay 16, the relay coils being each shunted by a capacitor-resistor circuit 27, 28 from which a rate feedback is applied to positive feedback windings 25. The control windings 21 are fed through rectifier 18 from transformer 4 by a variable resistance bridge 22, 23. Preferably bias windings 17 are provided. Sufficient lack of correspondence in the bridge unbalances the output of the transductors and operates the relay 16 to start a motor 15- in such direction to restore correspondence through a drive 31 which drives the slider of potentiometer 23. The arrangement is such that within the range of control current a to - a, Fig. 3, there is an insensitivity zone in which the motor is not driven, within the control current ranges a to b and - a to - b, the motor is driven intermittently (the output voltage U having an alternating component as well as a direct component) and beyond the control current values b and - b the motor is driven continuously to balance the bridge. Rectifiers 24 limit inadmissably high voltage differences in the bridge 23. Resistors 33 remove harmonics. The capacitors 28 may be replaced by transformers to provide the rate feedback, but capacitors are preferred since they also remove harmonics from the output current.
