Abstract

910,430. Transistor circuits. NATIONAL CASH REGISTER CO. Jan. 26, 1961 [Feb. 25, 1960], No. 3037/61. Class 40 (6). [Also in Groups XXXV and XXXVII] In a system having a D.C. supply source 10 supplying a load 11 which may include transistors, overvoltage protection is effected by means of a transistor 20 or other controllableimpedance device connected in shunt with the load 11 and normally biased to non-conduction by a voltage derived from a resistor 19 and a Zener diode 18 or other constant potential device connected between supply conductor 24 and a source of biasing potential 17. When the voltage of the supply source 10 rises above a predetermined value, the resulting bias voltage applied to the base of the transistor 20 causes the transistor to conduct and provide a shunt path permitting increased current to flow causing the blowing of a fuse 12 or the opening of a circuit-breaker.
