A method (and apparatus) for determining the concentration of oxygen in an electrolyte comprises intermittently applying a charge of predetermined potential to an electrode system in contact with the electrolyte at a rate exceeding 5 cycles per second and using indicating means responsive to the rate of loss of charge through the electrolyte to indicate oxygen concentration. The embodiment described is similar to Fig. 2 of Specification 851,512, except that a continuous reading of the quantity of oxygen is given instead of an intermittent reading.
