Abstract

910,354. Rope railways; rope grips. KOROGI, K. Dec. 16, 1959 [Dec. 24, 1958], No. 42835/59. Classes 78 (2) and 104 (2). In a parallel multiple endless rope aerial ropeway the supporting ropeway comprises at least two ropes R1, R2, arranged parallel to one another at a certain distance apart, which are simultaneously held endwise under tension and each carriage is provided with a rope grip comprising a plurality of swing- able grip elements C3 each of which embraces one of the ropes R1 or R2. In the terminal station A, Figs. 1 and 2, a frame A 1 supports a driving sheave A2 which is driven by reduction gear A3. The two parallel ropes R1, R2 engage grooves in the sheave A2 and are supported on wheels A4, the rope R2 cooperating with intermediate adjusting wheels A5 and guide wheels A6. Both ropes R1, R2 are endless and extend to rope receiving wheels B1 at a terminal station B, Figs. 3 and 4. At the station B the two ropes R1, R2 co-operate with guide wheels B2, B3, rope R2 also cooperating with adjusting wheels B4, and are supported on tension sheaves B5, B6 supported by a frame B7. The frame B7 moves one or both of the sheaves B5, B6 to tension the ropes R1, R2. A winder B10 operating on a rope B11, extending from a fixed point around a wheel B14 on the frame B7 then round a pressure regulator B13, provided with a time-limit switch connected in the circuit to the motor of the winder B10, to a tension wheel B15 on the frame B7 and then to the winder B10, ensures that the frame B7 will always be under the tension of a spring mechanism B12. A similar arrangement is shown and described using three supporting ropes. Automatic pushing equipment A7, B8 for restarting the carriage C is provided at the terminal stations A and B. Each carriage C is provided with a rope grip C1 having, for each rope, a pair of wheels C2 and a pair of rope grip elements C3, Fig. 9. Each grip element C3, Figs. 10 and 11, is rotatable about C4 on the carriage C and has a curved surface C5 formed with side pieces C6, C7. A wedge portion C8 is provided on the side piece C6 and wedges C9, C10 on the side piece C7. The wedge pieces engage with helical grooves R<SP>1</SP> in the rope R to enable the carriage C to be moved thereby. Rope grippers C14, Figs. 9 and 12, supported by a shaft C13 are held at their upper ends against the sides of a cam-wheel C16 by means of a spring and the cam-wheel C16 is mounted on a shaft C15 which is rotated by the carriage when traversing inclined ropes to force, due to the alteration in the peripheral thickness of the cam-wheel C16, the lower ends of the gripper C14 into gripping engagement with the ropes R1, R2.
