909,963. Binaural pick-ups and transducers. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. March 5, 1959 [March 8, 1958], No. 7690/59. Class 40 (4). A gramophone transducing device for the simultaneous recording or reproducing of two signals has a single stylus 2, Figs. 1, 2, connected to two transducing elements 3, 3, by a coupling comprising two branches 4, 4, stressed in tension. Force transmitted through a branch in one direction tends to increase the tensile stress and in the other direction tends to reduce the tensile stress. The branches 4, 4 are of polyvinylchloride and are resilient in a direction at right-angles to that of the tensile stress. The transducing elements are of piezoelectric material and may have their flat major faces parallel to one another, (Fig. 3, not shown).
