Abstract

Boron nitride is produced by the thermal decomposition of B-trichloroborazole (B3N3H3-Cl3). This method of production is used in a process for coating graphite, copper or nickel (see Group II).ALSO:A process for forming a boron nitride coating on a surface (e.g. graphite copper on nickel) is carrier out by the thermal decomposition of b -trichloroborazole in a flow system at atmospheric pressure or in a closed system. The object to be coated is heated to above 800 DEG C., directly if it is a conductor or indirectly if not, and the b -trichloroborazole, with or without an oxygen carrier gas, is led in and decomposed on the surface of the object. The stability of the coating may be increased by heat treatment.
