A photographic apparatus comprises a camera mounted on a curved track whose curvature is adjustable, for guiding movement of the camera in an arc centring upon the object to be photographed, the camera having an optical grating between the photo-sensitive surface and the object with its lines perpendicular to the said track, said grating being movable relative to the surface as the camera moves. The grating is formed as a transparent screen having opaque vertical strips, e.g. 65 to the inch, and the single exposure taken is effectively equal to a large number of superimposed separate exposures taken from different positions along the arcuate path, and when viewed through a suitable grating produces a three-dimensional effect. The camera is carried by a table 5 which is itself mounted on a trolley 1. The camera table has wheels 6 which run along a curved guide rail 8 so that the camera is always centred on the object to be photographed. The guide rail rests on rounded slides 14, and may be bent to a greater or less radius by the action of screws 11 which bear against each end, and which are operated from a hand wheel 13 by chain drives 12. Within the camera, the grating 22 is arranged in close proximity to the photographic plate 23. The former is movably mounted in a frame 24 carried by members 26 which have inclined surfaces 27 abutting with those of further members 26. The frame is biased in one direction by springs 28 so that any movement of the frame against this bias causes a transverse movement of the frame because of the inclined sliding surfaces. This movement is caused automatically by a mechanical linkage (Fig. 5, not shown) as the camera traverses, the degree of movement being adjustable.
