An adaptor for a mechanical lubricator which intermittently supplies lubricant to lubrication points on a motor vehicle chassis, has a body 1b which, having a chamber 4, houses a ballvalve 5, and has an integral portion 1a which, having a chamber 7, houses a plunger 11, the latter being shorter than the chamber 7. The body 1b is screw-threaded at 6 for connecting to a pipe line leading to the lubrication point, the portion la is screwably attached to a support C, and a groove 2 and passage 3 connects the lubricant supply to the ball-valve. In use, lubricant supplied to the adaptor displaces the plunger 11 against the action of a spring 12 until the inner end of the plunger abuts the end wall of the chamber 7 so that a space is formed therein to receive lubricant. At this point the valve 5 opens to allow the remainder of the charge to be delivered to the lubrication point. After the point has been lubricated, the plunger 11 is returned by the spring 12, thus the lubricant is removed from the chamber 7 and delivered to a reservoir. Interchangeable plungers 11, or a single plunger with adjustable abutment means, can be used to vary the individual feed to the lubrication point. A passage 8 connects the chamber 7 to atmosphere via an annular passage 9. The latter is covered by a rubber &c. sleeve which allows escape of the air and also serves as a dirt excluder. Oil leaking past the plunger 11 is drained away through the passages 8, 9.
