Abstract
908,183. Fluid-pressure servomotor control systems. HAYES ENGINEERS (LEEDS) Ltd. June 11, 1959 [June 19, 1958], No. 19637/58. Class 135. [Also in Group XXII] A valve unit for controlling the flow of liquid in an hydraulic system comprises a spool valve member 14, Fig. 1, centralized longitudinally in a ported housing 1, 3 between opposed spring- loaded elements 16, each of these elements being movable away from a stop position by movement imparted to the valve member in the appropriate direction, the opposite ends of this member controlling similar orifices 29 through which separate flows of control fluid may be maintained and varied to create a pressure difference acting on the valve member to control its movements. In a servo system, Fig. 2, the control fluid is applied to opposite ends of the spool valve unit through a control valve 23 actuated by movements of a tracer, e.g. in a copying machine tool, to cause corresponding movements of the spool valve member 14. This member in turn controls the flow of servo pressure liquid, received at an inlet 7 of the unit housing, to and from the opposite ends of an hydraulic motor 13 which may impart a traversing movement to a part of the machine tool such as a worktable. In another embodiment, the unit housing is modified for connection through a manually or mechanically actuated changeover valve, to the hydraulic motor, and a second control valve also actuated by the tracer controls directly a second hydraulic motor e.g. for controlling the vertical traverse of the worktable.
