[Also in Group XXVIII] A valve for dispensing a measured quantity of liquid from a pressurized container 10 comprises a measuring chamber 14 normally communicating with the interior of the container through an inlet aperture and a valve plunger 21 which, when depressed, connects the chamber 14 to a spray nozzle 35 through a port 20 and closes the inlet aperture, the latter being formed as a valve comprising a tubular resilient element 25 in sealing contact with the inlet aperture and a portion 23c on the plunger of greater diameter than at least part of the bore of the element 25; the part of the valve housing 13 surrounding the element 25 has an inner diameter greater than the outer diameter of the sealing portion 27 of the element 25 so that the latter is free to expand when the portion 23c of the valve enters it. The plunger may seal on a necked, reduced-bore portion 27 of the element and may itself have a necked portion 23b so that the container can be filled by replacing the spray head 31 with a filling head and depressing the plunger beyond the normal sealing position. Curved channels 24 prevent trapping of liquid disposed above the portion 27. The element 25 may be a separate element or part of the dip tube 25y. Modified forms of the element comprise a top-hot section with an aperture in the crown and a cup-shaped form 61, as shown in Fig. 7, which expands into the sealing bevel 47 provided on the walls of the measuring chamber.
