Abstract
A precipitant for slimes comprises an acid-soluble polyamide produced from a polymeric fat acid and an excess of a polyamine H2NR (NHR)n NH2 where R is alkylene and n = 1 to 6. The polyamide may be used as a solution or dispersion in acetic, hydrochloric or sulphuric acid.ALSO:Mineral slimes of quartz, bentonite, kaolin iron ore and talc are flocculated by adding an acid soluble polyamide which is the reaction product of a polymeric fat acid and an excess of a polyamine H2NR(NHR)nNH2 in which R is alkylene and n=1 to 6.
