Abstract

906,728. Controlling the feed of dough-like mixtures to moulding apparatus. ALGEMENE KUNGSTZIJDE UNIE N.V. March 3, 1960 [March 7, 1959], No. 7602/60. Class 87(2). The flow of a dough-like mixture of fibrereinforced regenerated cellulose sponge 2 from a pressure vessel 1 through a conduit 7 into a retractable mould 9 is controlled by a valve 8 comprising a gate member 12 reciprocable to allow or prevent flow through the conduit, and a piston 14 which is adapted to be retracted in a guide 15 to provide a chamber in which dough-like mixture is displaced as the gate member 12 is closed. In the embodiment of Fig. 4 two semi-cylindrical gate members 21 are rotatably pivoted in recesses 22 on axes 23, each mounted in the plane of a wall of the conduit 7. The gate members 21 may be mounted eccentrically. In the embodiment of Fig. 3 (not shown) two quadrant-recesses are provided in one wall of the conduit and the gate member comprises a quadrant of a cylinder with a planer extension.
