Abstract

906,440. Electrolytic treatment of sea-water. COMPAGNIE DE CONSTRUCTION DES GROS MATERIEL ELECTRO MECANIQUE. Feb. 8, 1960 [March 4, 1959], No. 4382/60. Drawings to Specification. Class 41. Sea-water or brakish or incompletely softened water is treated to reduce its scale-depositing properties by passing it through two diaphragmtype electrolytic cells one of which includes at least one anode of amorphous carbon and the other at least one metallic anode, the cathodes of both cells being metallic, discarding the cathodic effluent from both cells, and mixing the anodic effluents in such proportions that the pH of the mixture is from 4 to 6.4. The cells may be fed with water in parallel, or the anodic compartment of the cell with the metallic anode may be fed with the anodic effluent from the other cell. Specification 823,531 is referred to,
