[Also in Group XXXIX] Apparatus for controlling the current of an electroplating system in accordance with the speed of travel of a strip to be plated comprises a tachogenerator 5 (Fig. 3) whose output voltage is fed to a transductor 3 controlling the plating current through a rectifier 4, the plating current being compared at 14 with the command current to the transductor to provide a correction to the command signal when the ratio plating current to command current departs from a desired value. The tachogenerator signal is modified at 6, 13 in accordance with the known width of the strip 2, the desired coating thickness, the diameter of the main drive roll and the plating efficiency, e.g. by a calibrated potentiometer, and converted at 7 into the command current fed into the excitation winding 8 of transductor 3. A plurality of plating baths 1 can be controlled simultaneously by the command current from 7, the excitation windings 8 being connected in parallel so that the proportion of the command current taken by each of the units can be manually adjusted by variable resistors 12 in series with windings 8 whereby the plating currents are correspondingly adjusted. An interlock device is associated with the device 7 and the transductors 3 which ensures that the minimum output current of the transductors is approximately one-seventh of the full load.
