Abstract

905,856. Typewriters &c. HANDLEY, J. Nov. 11, 1960 [Nov. 18, 1959], No. 39049/59. Class 100 (4). A printer in which characters are produced by one or a combination of impression members has wires 1 actuated to effect impression on a form 34 by latching members 4 which are moved by a latch-plate 7 after selection. Appropriate selector cables 12 are moved to select one or more wires for the desired character for printing and thus displace the corresponding latch or latches 4 against the action of its spring 14 so that on movement of the plate 7 by its cam a stepped surface 31 engages the ends 10 to move the latch or latches 4 and wire or wires 1 against springs 6 to effect impression. After impression cables 12 are withdrawn, allowing the springs 14 to disengage the ends 10 from the steps 31 while springs 6, 19, 20 restore the wires 1 and latch-plate 7, respectively.
