A filter tray 1, Figs. 2 and 4, containing, e.g., layers of glass wool and granulated carbon 3, 4, Fig. 4, is fed with water and solids by an air lift pump 22, 18 from the bottom of an aquarium (not shown) and may be supported at various distances from the sides of the aquarium by brackets 10, Fig. 2, slidable in a slot 8, Figs. 2 and 4, and having flanges 16 which rest on the aquarium sides.
