904,136. River bed controlling. ELECTRICITE DE FRANCE. April 26, 1961 [May 3, 1960], No. 15122/61. Class 68 (1). Apparatus for controlling stream flow of a river to cause a channel 32 to be cut and maintained by the stream through an alluvial shelf 16 causing shallowing of the river comprises a series of screens 24 so spaced from one another that the upstream ends of the screens lie on a continuous curve which crosses the shelf on a line taken by the normal current of the stream across the shelf, and the screens are each disposed at an acute angle with the tangent to said curve at the intersection of the upstream end of the screen and the curve.
