Abstract

903,607. Combine-harvesters. CLAAS, H. April 6, 1961 [April 8, 1960], No. 12441/61. Class 6(3). In a combine harvester wherein a delivery auger 16, 29 feeds the threshed material to a separating device 18, an awner 17, 28 is arranged adjacent to the delivery end of an elevator 15, 21 which feeds the auger, the awner being parallel to the auger and by-passing part of its length. The crop-collecting and threshing devices are conventional and include a transverse auger 13 and retractible tines 11 feeding, by an endless elevator 14, to the threshing cylinder (not shown). An endless bucket-elevator 21 in a duct 15 discharges into a chamber 24 communicating with the casing 16 of the worm 29 and the casing 17 of a rotary awner 28. A flap valve 31 selectively controls the discharge of material into the awner or worm. The awner comprises a bladed rotor 60 within a cage 59, the separated material falling through a shoot 40 into the worm 29. A blower 19 is mounted on an extension of the shaft 61 adjacent to the separator 18 and sucks light material through the mesh of a separating cylinder, Fig. 5 (not shown), for discharge through a vertical duct 48 behind the driver's seat 20.
