Abstract

903,449. Dentistry. MAILLAND, C. F. H. Aug. 12, 1960 [Oct. 2, 1959], No. 28031/60. Class 81 (2). The outer portions of a denture, conforming to the outer face of the gum, are made separate and are resiliently connected to the main part of the denture. These separate parts 4, Fig. 2, of which there may be several spaced around the denture, have pegs 6 engaged in sockets 5 in the denture 1. Preferably the peg 6, Fig. 3, carries a nut 7 and is slidable in a sleeve 5 embedded in the denture material. The nut is urged inwards by a spring 8 and a closure cap 9 seals the end of the sleeve. The portions 4, Fig. 2, are thus resiliently drawn inwards into firm contact with the gum even if they have to be spread somewhat to pass over natural teeth during insertion of the denture.
