Abstract
A siloxane moulding or coating composition consists essentially of from 5 to 30% (by wt.) of an alkylphenylsiloxane resin having an average of from 0,9 to 1,5 total phenyl and lower alkyl radicals per Si atom and from 70 to 95% of a volatile-free filler selected from magnesium silicate, lithium aluminium silicate, aluminium silicate, magnesium oxide, silica, alumina and zinc oxide. The fillers are freed of volatiles, such as adsorbed or combined water, carbonates and organic matter, by calcining at temperatures above 500 DEG C. The compositions may also contain curing catalysts, e.g. lead stearate or 2-ethylhexoate, dibutyl tin diacetate or zinc octoate, mould release agents and pigments, e.g. Fe2O3. Examples are given. Uses: As conventional or ceramic moulding compositions for making electrical insulators and connector bases; for coating articles. Specification 822,859 is referred to.
