Abstract
902,536. Fresnel lenses. JOBLING & CO, Ltd., JAMES A. April 6, 1960 [April 6, 1959]. No. 11598/59. Class 97 (1). A Fresnel lens has several concentric prisms, P1, P2, &c., the hypothetical surface of each prism, which surface contains the points of intersection of incident rays emanating from the principal focus of the lens and the corresponding refracted rays, cutting a spherical surface which has the principal focus of the lens as its centre and which has the same radius of curvature as the spherical surface of the lens on the side thereof remote from the principal focus. This outer lens surface has its centre of curvature on the optical axis but displaced from the principal focus by a distance equal to 2/3 of the average thickness of the lens material.
