Abstract

A liquid hydrocarbon distillate fuel having a boiling range above that of gasoline, contains 0,01 to 5% by weight of manganese as a cyclopentadienyl manganese tricarbonyl compound. The fuel may be kerosene, heating oil, gas oil, diesel oil, lamp oil, furnace oil or an industrial or domestic fuel oil. In examples fuel compositions contain cyclopentadienyl manganese, tricarbonyl, methylcyclopentadienyl manganese tricarbonyl, octyl-cyclopentadienyl manganese tricarbonyl, indenyl manganese tricarbonyl, ethyl-cyclopentadienyl manganese tricarbonyl, phenylcyclopentadienyl manganese tricarbonyl, or ethyl methylcyclo-pentadienyl manganese tricarbonyl.
