A junction box suitable for flush laying in holes of various depths, comprises a lid 7 supported by screws 6, vertically adjustable in upright threaded pillars 3, mounted on a baseplate 1. When lid 7 has been adjusted to the required height it is fixed in position by bolts 8, which screw into threaded pillars 4, there being a pair of pillars 3, 4 in a baseless box 2 at each corner of the junction box.
