A combine harvester comprises a body 10, power unit 11, driver's platform 12, driven wheels 13, steerable wheels 14 and a cutter assembly 15 comprising a cutter bar, means for picking up the cut crop and an auger 16 the centre section of which is fitted with pivoted feeder fingers 17 whilst the two end sections carry screw helices 18 for sweeping the crop on to an elevator chain 19 working in a header 20. The chain delivers the crop to a threshing drum 21 and beater 22, the grain dropping into the dresser comprising a thresher fan 23 whilst the straw passes to a shaker 24 and is finally ejected through a baling press 25. The corn is conveyed by an elevator in shaft 26 to a bagging stand 27 on the body 10. Associated with the feeder elevator 19 is a dust extractor comprising one or more suction ducts 28<SP>1</SP>, 28<SP>11</SP>, 28<SP>111</SP>, 28<SP>1111</SP> arranged as shown in Fig. 1. These ducts which have slit-shaped openings which may face in different directions, preferably extend across the width of the conveying means. If desired, the auger 16 may itself be made to serve as a suction duct. As shown in Fig. 3, the duct 34 extends across the complete width of the header, there being an impeller 33 at one end communicating with a downwardlydirected exhaust duct 35. The ducts 28<SP>1</SP>, 28<SP>11</SP> &c. may be coupled directly to the winnowing fan 23 and a filter may be incorporated in the ducts to obviate dust being blown into the threshed grain.
