Abstract

900,014. Sifting apparatus. ROOT HARVESTERS Ltd. Oct. 9, 1958 [Oct. 9, 1957], No. 31620/57. Class 117. A root crop screening device is in the form of a shoot comprising a framework 10-15 with spaced rods or tubes 31 extending partially up the sides and attached to the parts 12, 14, 15 and 33. It is pivotally supported about the axis of a two-wheeled undercarriage, comprising wheels 16, axle bar 17 and a draw-bar frame 18, by depending rods 20 mounted telescopically in holders 22 joined to a cross-member 24 mounted on the axle bar. The shoot height is adjustable by fixing pins 23 passed through apertures in the telescoping parts. The height of the loading end of the shoot is adjusted by a depending tube 25 extending from pivoted arms 26, and passing through a cross-member 29 on the draw-bar frame. The tube 25 has apertures 28 and is held in the desired position by a pin 28a extending through lugs and engaging in a selected one of the apertures. A depending bracket 30 supports the frame 18 from the ground.
