899,967. Sliding clasp fasteners. RUHRMANN, J. May 7, 1959, No. 15698/59. Class 44. A method of making a sliding clasp fastener, interlocking members 2 of which are made of plastics and are interconnected to form a string of interlocking members, comprises the steps of placing a covering strip 4 on the string of interlocking members and welding or gluing the covering strip to the string and or through interstices between adjacent interlocking members to the tape 1 or other support carrying the string. As shown, the interlocking members 2 substantially U-shape, one end of each member (except for the end members) being connected only to the succeeding and the other end only to the preceding member by bridge portions. The members 2 are attached to the tape 1 by stitches 11. The covering strip 4 includes a layer 7 of weldable plastics material. In modifications, the strip 4 may be impregnated with or made entirely of plastics material or may be welded or glued solely to the limbs 3 of the members 2.
