Abstract

899,715. Lubricating. KING Ltd., GEO. W. Feb. 28, 1961 [March 11, 1960], No. 8661/60. Class 12 (3). In a lubricating system for conveyer chains 10 lubricant is supplied intermittently to the connecting pins 11 via tubes 16, 17 connected by conduits 18, 19, respectively, to a mist lubricator 20. In operation, a star-wheel 27 meshes with the chain to actuate a microswitch 26 and cause periodic opening of a valve 23 which allows a supply of pressurised air to flow to the lubricator 20 and thus cause the oilmist to be sprayed on to the chain. The pressurised air is supplied from a source (not shown) and is passed through a regulator 24 and a cleaner 25. The spray discharged is regulated by a valve 28 on the lubricator 20. Foreign matter may be removed from the chain, prior to lubricating, by jets of air or liquid also controlled by the micro-switch.
